PCI People Centered Innovation Playbook ISSIP
The main objective of the project was to develop a playbook that proposes a framework to be used in tandem with a co-creation workshop and online teaching material. This playbook was developed to help stakeholders become innovators in their respective fields; it explains the four phases that could be adopted by an innovator – exploration, evaluation, development and realisation – and analyses the relationship between these phases. Various tools are also included to aid the user in achieving their goals phase by phase.
One of the challenges in designing this tool was showing this interplay in a way that could be easily explained and understood. Another challenge was being able to print the “solution” in colour, and the “tool” in black and white. These challenges were addressed by formatting the playbook such that the “tools” can be printed separately and torn out and folded into a “fortune teller” tool.
This “fortune teller” tool reinforces the knowledge of the framework and allows one to explain the concepts in the playbook to someone else in a concise way. Additionally, the multilayered structure of the tool lends itself well to the three layers of the framework – the core phases, the goals of each phase and the tools used to complete those goals. The movements of the “fortune teller” also set up a metaphor for the relationships the phases have with one another.
