Kunsthalle Mannheim is celebrating its reopening after major construction work. The accompanying campaign makes use of the ambiguity of the word “open”, putting it at the core of the communication. A modular toolkit of basic colours and defined shapes makes it possible to take an open and flexible approach to colours and typography in the design of posters and other advertising aids. The letters – like graphic characters in different cuts, colours and positioning on the poster – likewise reflect the message and are an effective way to implement the theme.
