Hairpin

A surplus of overproduction and different possibilities in materials form the starting point of this project. As a simple daily accessory, the black hairclip is an unexpected object to be used as a material for fashion garments. This project sits on the edge between art and design. Conventional metal snap-type hairclips are used in this project as the main material of the design. A generous amount of these hairclips are attached to a knitted fabric to create a texture that resembles bird feathers. Thus resulting product is one that makes a strong visual impact. This project explores daily living with experimental techniques by employing an everyday material and craftsmanship in a completely new way.
