Gemdale Corporation – Office Building Upgrade Project

This pavilion was erected in front of the office buildings of the Gemdale Corporation in Kunming, China. Its form references a limestone formation in Yunnan Province, also known as the Stone Forest. The pavilion consists of numerous rectangular orange frames. Positioned in arches and in different heights, they create a powerful visual impression. Handmade traditional batik fabrics from the region have been suspended from the cross bars at both ends of the pavilion. The visually intriguing structure invites visitors to stay a while and thus creates a stimulating atmosphere in the urban environment.
