COFFEEBEING

There are many methods for recycling coffee grounds, but due to manpower constraints, they cannot be implemented effectively. COFFEEBEING is a coffee shop experience concept that focuses on using materials derived from used coffee grounds to create utensils and other objects needed to run a coffee shop business. Essentially, any used coffee grounds from the coffee shop's day-to-day operations are recycled and returned to support the coffee shop, completing the coffee waste recycling cycle. Coffee grounds can be used to create materials with a wide range of textures and properties. For example, this cup series made from coffee waste is combined traditional Chinese craft lacquer to innovate and improve on the unique pattern, retain the original texture and emotion of the material, create a whole new aesthetic, and be durable enough for its function. Customers who purchase a cup of coffee are not only financially supporting their favourite independent coffee shop, but they are also contributing to an interesting closed-loop recycling process.
