Bugaboo Giraffe

The Bugaboo Giraffe is rooted in the tradition of high chairs that grow with the child and, for years to come, join the dinner table on an equal footing with other chairs. As a sole piece of children’s furniture, a high chair is not designed for the children’s room but for family rooms – and thus has to meet the preferences and practical requirements of both children and parents alike. From an aesthetic point of view, the Bugaboo Giraffe achieves this through a minimalist design that, thanks to gentle curves and the absence of hard edges, has a soft and child-friendly feel and appearance without being playful. It is the use of beech wood as the main material and the economical use of bio-based plastic in muted colours which, in combination with the long, almost delicate-looking legs, has resulted in “a high chair that exudes a reduced, light and timeless impression with which it integrates harmoniously into any living environment,” as the jury explained. Above all, however, the jury was impressed by the Bugaboo Giraffe’s high functionality and quality of use. The high chair is designed such that it can be adapted to the developmental stage and height of the child in just a few simple steps. The key elements in this are a seat and a footrest that can be adjusted in height within seconds. This way, the chair provides ergonomic back support for children of all heights and ages. Accessories such as the newborn set, for which an optional rocker base is available, the baby seat with harness, or the machine-washable tray can be attached easily and securely to the upper bars as needed. “It is thanks to the clever functional elements that the options offered by this high chair for the different phases of a child’s life are intuitive and effortless to use, so that parents will gladly rely on them to optimise their child’s sitting posture from an ergonomic point of view,” praised the jury. “In addition, the Bugaboo Giraffe convinces with a sustainability-oriented approach that manifests itself in formal longevity, long-term usability and an environmentally conscious use of materials.”
