The colour white has played an important role in Korean culture since the Joseon dynasty. Pure white food with no particularly strong flavour is traditionally seen as a blessing, and having a breakfast of white rice cake at New Year is considered to bring well-being and a long life. This gift set reinterprets the local culture in an up-to-date manner. Rice cakes wrapped gracefully with a ribbon and seal exude a festive atmosphere, while the purist style of the boxes bridges the gap to contemporary taste. The recyclable material used as a wrapped fabric also adds a modern touch to the packaging.
