Bamboo is a material of which there is an almost unlimited supply in nature. The plant grows very quickly and can be used in many different areas. However, to date its use in eyewear design has been tricky as reading glasses require a high degree of stability and flexibility. This bamboo spectacle frame from the Naturalism.T series is the result of a two-year development process. One of its sources of inspiration was the advantage offered by a knotting technique traditionally used in China. The outcome was a thin frame measuring only 2.3 mm, which makes it very comfortable to wear. The very natural appearance associated with bamboo is combined with a high level of stability. The design uses an innovative connection and pin technique so that the frame is very light (11 grams) and very flexible. Both the hinges and bow springs are made of titanium to strengthen the join between the frame and the temples. As a result, the glasses are adjustable and easily fit different head shapes and sizes. The bamboo grain ensures that every frame is unique. All frames are hand-polished to give them a smooth surface. In this way, an extremely elegant appearance is attractively combined with the natural quality of this sustainable raw material.
