Anniversary Stamps

Common to all four postage stamps within this series from the Netherlands is an abstract visual language that purposefully avoids traditional imagery. Thanks to versatile design ideas, the specially conceptualised typography manifests as actual illustrations. The design of the lettering is inspired by the content of the series, conveying the anniversary theme. Pool balls, for example, are used instead of zeros and the letter “o”, referring to the 100th anniversary of a billiard association. Or for the anniversary of a composer, an artistic font is set against a background ornamented with staff lines.
