Advent Calendar 2016 – A Christmas Village

返回 Download

This Advent calendar is designed every year and sent as a gift to the customers of the Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach printing company. For the year 2016 it adopted the idea to present the Christmas and Advent time as seen with children’s eyes. Therefore, pupils from an elementary school were specially invited to create drawings using a variety of motifs that reflected their individual thoughts on the subject. These exciting pictures were then used on 24 colourful house models. They are incorporated into the unusually elongated shape of the packaging which, when opened, forms a colourful row of houses depicting a Christmas village at night. This serene night scenery has been enhanced with stars and date numbers made of cold foil. Taking out the houses reveals a QR code that links to a little audiovisual message by the child artists. The materials, the work steps as well as the packaging are all well-thought-out in terms of environmental soundness and social sustainability.

The concept of this Advent calendar follows an impressive approach in merging the physical with the digital world. When taking the 24 houses designed by children out of the packaging, it allows playing an audiovisual message from the children via a QR code. Thus bestowing meaning to this Advent calendar, it evokes a beautiful sense of community. In addition, the calendar can also easily be reused later, for example for stowing things in it.
