Red Dot in Xiamen: Red Dot Academy with renowned lecturers
From 30 October until 2 November 2015, Red Dot brings the world of design to the Chinese metropolis of Xiamen: This year, the "Xiamen International Design Business Week - Red Dot in China" will show a Red Dot curated exhibition with over 150 award-winning products. Many exciting companies and designers will also present themselves at special booths. In addition, the Red Dot Academy will provide once again an academic programme for advanced design studies.
International experts will impart knowledge of how to succeed with good design: Therefore, the Academy is geared to designers and design managers as well as entrepreneurs and marketing strategists. In the seminars, the participants will learn the characteristics of good design by examining best-practice examples. Those insights will be dealt with in detail in the lectures and also become part of the final exams. Those who pass the exam will receive a diploma, which proves their design skills. Besides Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, longtime Red Dot jurors Martin Beeh (Germany), Michel de Boer (Netherlands), Gordon Bruce (USA), and Thomas Lockwood (USA) are among the lecturers.
After holding a number of positions at Electrolux and being founder of beeh_innovation, Martin Beeh is professor for Design Management at the University of Applied Science Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Lemgo/Germany since 2012. He focuses on Industrial Design, Design Management, Design Thinking and Material Innovation. With more than 30 years of experience in branding, corporate and identity design, Michel de Boer has worked for many clients around the world such as Apple, Allianz, Shell, Nike, Randstad, General Motors China and Netherlands and South Korean government.
Gordon Bruce knows companies and brands that are on a path to success like no other. As a consultant to companies like Samsung and Lenovo, he spent many years providing important impetus for their design development. The lecturer team is completed by Thomas Lockwood. He is one of the few people in the world with a Ph.D. in Design Management, and is recognised as a thought leader in integrating design and innovation practice into business and building great design and user experience organisations.
