Nature and design: awarded product highlights for the outdoor season

The cold days are over – time to start the outdoor season! Not only the first warm spring days attract the people to go outside now. A variety of functional and aesthetic products, which were awarded in this year‘s Red Dot Award: Product Design, invite to leave the house and linger in the garden, on the balcony and terrace.

Soaking up the sun on the Riviera Lounge

Who wants to fill his vitamin D reservoir and capture the first warm sunrays finds his place at the Riviera Lounge by the Danish manufacturer Skagerak. It is not only a classic sun lounger: variable elements make it a playing ground, enabling the lounge to serve as a sofa, table, or level surface. By simple folding, the product adapts to the individual needs. The Riviera Lounge was awarded with the Red Dot for the design by Povl Bjerregaard Eskildsen.

Protection and soft lighting at twilight

When the sunshine turns into mild drizzle or the sun sets, the day outdoors has not to come to an end. Being a mixture of awning and patio roof, the pergola „PergoTex II“ made by Weinor provides protection from weather and darkness. This year it received the highest award, the Red Dot: Best of the Best. Due to the folding mechanism by the German manufacturer the pergola is flexible, yet stable in wind, and rainproof. The LED lighting with continuously dimmable spots integrated into the crossbars bathes the exterior in a soft light.

Barbecuing and warming up around the “Feuerring”

The cool twilight at the end of the day provides an opportunity to start a fire. The TULIP Feuerring, made of raw steel and designed by Andreas Reichlin from Switzerland, combines a sculptural, archaic form with a functionality that goes beyond the decorative of a fire bowl. Its broad rim, which is heated by the flame, is also a grill site at which the day can come to a culinary end in good company. The different temperature zones of the steel ring gently dispense the heat, which allows an individual preparation of the food. The jury awarded the product by the Swiss manufacturer with the Red Dot: Best of the Best.
