International design experts select the best design concepts
The basis of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2016 is formed by the experts of the Red Dot jury. This year, it is comprised of 20 internationally recognised designers, professors, specialised journalists and publishers. Thanks to their backgrounds and experiences, the jury members can especially appreciate the cultural characteristics of design and consciously evaluate them. Until 18 May 2016, companies, designers and design students can register for the competition.
20 experts from 12 countries form the international Red Dot jury
Part of this year's high-profile panel of experts is for example Werner Aisslinger from Germany, who became world famous with his mobile living space “Loft Cube”. His products are amongst others featured in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Another member of the jury is Raj Nandan: the founder and owner of the publishing company Indesign Media Asia Pacific publishes design and architecture-based works of global repute. Juror Cheng-Neng Kuan is a full professor and the vice president of the Shih-Chien University, Taipei, Taiwan. Besides his academic activities in the fields of design management as well as design theory and creation, he is a consultant to major enterprises on product development and design strategy.
Jury members commit to the ´Code of Honour`
The jury of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept evaluates the submitted entries purely on design criteria. Whether by an individual, a group, a company or studio, a beginner or a veteran: all submissions will be presented to the experts without name, image or logo of the designers. To ensure a fair selection process, the jury members are not allowed to submit or vote for a project that they are involved in. This guarantees the strict ´Code of Honour`, which all judges commit to.
Announcement and ceremony of the Red Dot winners in Singapore
On 22 September 2016, the winners will receive their trophies during the award ceremony in Singapore. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, will host the Red Dot gala and hand over the sought-after awards. Finally, the best design concept of the year will be awarded the Red Dot: Luminary - the highest destinction of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept.
