How Miele remains ”Immer besser”

Miele is one of Germany’s most successful manufacturers of domestic and commercial appliances. Founded in 1899, the company is now run by the fourth generation of the Miele and Zinkann families. The guiding principle of the family business is: “Immer besser”, meaning “always better”.

Thought through in every detail

“Immer besser” is how Miele combines design and functionality. The PDW 909 commercial washer-dryer impressed the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design with its ”well thought-out design down to the last detail, offering a high level of user-friendliness”. Although the appliance doors differ according to technical requirements, they form an exciting design unit.

Design and functionality in harmony

Miele has also succeeded in harmonising design and functionality for domestic use. The full-surface induction hob from the KM 7897 Diamond series impressed the jury with its high-quality appearance and its absence of cooking zones: ”When the frameless hob is not in use, the controls are invisible. This creates a calm, homogeneous appearance”.

Five-time winner in the Red Dot Award: Product Design

Clear shapes, timeless elegance and consistent lines characterise the company’s design. Miele coordinates all its appliances, demonstrating quality awareness and style. In total, Miele was able to convince the Red Dot jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023 five times, for both commercial and domestic use.
