“Enduring, not ultimate form”: from “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1980 - 1997)
Triangle
The common “Bit Set” box is comprised of many different parts. Not only does it take many different kinds of plastic materials, it also requires personnel and time for assembly. The TRIANGLE only requires one form of plastic material and a simple manufacturing process to achieve the display, storage and carrying of tools. It provides innovative use of method, as well as an all-new feel, thus breaking the stereotype of coldness associated with toolboxes. To minimise the damage to the environment during the production process, the disposal and recycling of materials is made easier.
The unfolded bit set can be hung on the tool wall. It gives a clear display of the dimensions of all driver heads. This allows the user to select and pick out tools conveniently. Tools lining up neatly against the wall surface also provides aesthetic pleasure. The properties of Polypropylene are used to achieve a simple and fast folding mechanism. The overall usage is simple and intuitive. After folding, the bit set becomes a streamlined triangular tube that is highly portable.
This simple-looking innovation was only made possible through many tests and modifications. The folding function, hooking mechanism on the lid, secure storage of the tools, or the method of picking up the tools are all carefully thought through in the design process. The horizontal pattern prevents possible warping during the manufacturing process while providing an anti-slip effect. The TRIANGLE uses space and material properties intelligently to make the bit set simpler and closer to daily life.
