Skoutari Olive Oil
The word “skoutari” means “shield” and is borrowed from the lyrics of the Greek poem “Erotokritos”. In the poem, it protects the protagonist in a jousting tournament. This works as a metaphor for the way in which the olive oil protects the human body thanks to its ingredients. The jousting scene is depicted using three horses. Inspired by the ceramics of ancient Greece, linocut printing was used for the design. The bottle is coloured brown to mimic the idea of ceramics. The typography is inspired by an early Greek adaptation of the Garamond font used in the first printed version of the poem in 1723.
