These two porcelain vases were modelled after seismic waves of particular earthquakes and the corresponding seismographic recordings. Selected parts of the two-dimensional shape of the curve determine the asymmetrical contours of the vases. The model New Zealand visualises the earthquake of February 2011 while the model Italy alludes to the local earthquake of May 2012. The filigree vases in “bisquit” colour are handmade in Germany using traditional methods.
Statement by the Jury
The porcelain vases owe their distinctive appearance to the consistent realisation of a creative design idea.
