The NEXTAGE Fillie is a robot designed to work in the same places as humans. During development, value was placed on a humanoid and likeable appearance to support a positive perception of the robot among employees. Its structure is based on the human anatomy. The robot’s flat head shape lets humans see where the robot is looking and in which direction it will move its arms. This makes the robot’s behaviour more predictable and less threatening. In addition, the two “feelers” on the head indicate the current operating status and make it visually perceptible with a lively flashing light.

Statement by the Jury

The appearance of the NEXTAGE Fillie represents a successful balancing act between a highly efficient work machine and a likeable “friend” for humans.
