New Interconnected Map Service (NIMS)
NEW INTERCONNECTED MAP SERVICE (NIMS) is a next-generation In-Vehicle infotainment system for self-driving. It enhances convenience and expands in-vehicle experiences with realistic map representation through a high-powered engine and AI-based infotainment services.
NIMS for both self-driving and manual-driving environments feature innovative infotainment systems that provide system information, route guidance, and entertainment features for passengers.
For manual driving, the Digital Twin 3D Map integrates digital twin technology to display real-time information about nearby buildings, objects, and traffic lights, which enhances driving convenience. The high-contrast, mono-tone map improves visibility, while camera effects per driving speed ensure precise route guidance.
In autonomous driving, AI-connected services recommend places of interest and tourist attractions along the route. Integration with car payment technology allows for automatic orders and payments.
The service is designed as a prototype with proven usability. In the development process, usability from the perspective of an autonomous vehicle driver was considered via Unreal Engine for the prototype. GUI components are organised on the left side to help drivers feel safer by predicting potential unexpected situations that can occur on the road. On the right, infotainment features are tailored for passengers. This service allows drivers to explore social media content happening nearby through flexible and optimised UIs when precise road guidance is less critical during autonomous driving.
