Memoirs of a Geisha

This project is an illustrative re-design of a poster for the film “Memoirs of a Geisha”. It showcases the protagonist’s silhouette by employing the effect of positive and negative space. Within the main shape, a solitary geisha figure turns towards the audience, adding poignancy to the poster. The illustration was executed using a skilful combination of hand-drawn line art, watercolour washes and digital painting, seeking to tune the viewer in on the overall delicate and refined feel of the film.
