Jujiao Effect
Jianjiao is a big religious festival inTaiwan that follows a particular sequence of festivities. Five paintings trace and reinterpreted each stage of the festival in detail using modern media. For instance, fluorescent ink was chosen to reflect the festival’s changing appearance from the daytime to night-time. The project was based on film footage and photos taken during the festival, woven together using contemporary and traditional elements to enable the general public of today to gain a better understanding of the event and greater awareness of this important cultural tradition.
