The Wempe Glashütte I/SA Iron Walker watch line was inspired by the courageous steel workers who built the dizzyingly high US skyscrapers in the 1920s. “With its matt-coated elements, textured dial and other powerful details, the Chronograph 46 model boasts an aesthetic that corresponds perfectly with its design inspiration,” concluded the jury. While certain elements, such as the pushers, crown and case back, are made of carbon, the dial is reminiscent of the woven carbon mats used in aircraft and racing car construction. Complementing the dark background are the strong blue, green and orange shades of the tachymeter scale and the three stop hands.
