Incense

Lukang, a small town in northwestern Taiwan, is famous for its historical buildings. In order to capture the spirit of the place, the posters translate the features of three local temples into visually telling images. The topic is presented in a graphic language reminiscent of printed Chinese characters. Since the shapes are broken up by recesses and colour graduation, the pictures have a smoke-like effect. Thus, the posters call attention to the incense which is traditionally burned in the temples for ceremonial occasions.
