Guan Chuang
In the Chinese language, Guan is a homonym that has various meanings, including to detain, to see close up, and to enjoy. This project uses the Chinese characters that mean “to close windows” (pronounced Guan Chuang) to allude to the hidden images in everyday life. The aim is to change images perceived as ugly by combining different lines and patterns on iron-framed windows so that users can enjoy and recognise beautiful views. Six of these windows were related to characteristic Taiwanese sights and complemented by creative products such as booklets or stamps.
