Kitchen Unit
Charcoal Cook Stove
Eclair
The Eclair cook stove was designed in cooperation with local craftsmen and households in Benin to ensure that it corresponds to cooking habits, aesthetics and production capabilities. It is produced in decentralised, small workshops and sold at an affordable price. Due to its innovative technical layout, not only the cooking time was remarkably shortened, but also charcoal consumption has been reduced by 30 per cent and the CO emission has decreased by almost a half compared to conventional products.
Statement by the Jury
Eclair is an impressive example of how design can preserve resources and enhance people’s living conditions.
