Chunga

This playground is located in Odense Zoo in Denmark. It frames the scenario of the lion Chunga by wooden structures of a landscape comprising high grass, leaves, a tower and safari vehicles. The playground changes the perspective for young visitors and they turn from audience into actors. They can hide in the grass and climb on the leaves. A concealed bridge leads them to a tower, where two slides are attached and end close to the lion. The wooden wild animal has its mouth wide open and children can either play outside or inside it.

Statement by the Jury

With its original and lovingly created design, the Chunga playground perfectly fits into a zoo. It encourages playing and moving around in an exciting way.
