BliScent / smart aroma diffuser

Shiseido’s research has shown that scents act on the autonomic nervous system, which can create a calm and relaxed mood, help induce a deep sleep or enhance concentration at work. BliScent is developed as a powerful mood trigger using Shiseido’s fragrance and psychological technology. It also has an intelligent function that allows the programme to learn from feedback, improve assessment precision and continuously blend a more suitable scent each time. BliScent brings innovation to the home fragrance industry. Two technologies make BliScent exceptional: One senses the autonomic nervous system and assesses stress levels with an APP that measures the user’s heart rate and fluctuations in heartbeat intervals. The other involves blending and configuring a custom scent instantly. Six program-controlled cartridges diffuse the necessary amount of aromatics. Shiseido’s century-plus research assets culminate in this unique form of an algorithm for the programme. The combined two technologies gave birth to the “smart aroma diffuser” capabilities. To date, BliScent can blend more than 3,000 unique scents and learns users’ favourites from feedback. This idea is the world’s first and will bring much innovation to the fragrance industry. The prototype is already in use with guaranteed effects. Two international patent applications and the actual product was exhibited at the recent SXSW.
