Control Unit
Azimuth lever
The Azimuth lever is a control element used on Azipod-powered watercraft, as can be frequently found on cruise ships. The horizontal axis of the lever controls the propulsion motor speed, while the steering angle is regulated by the vertical axis. The lever allows the captain to make very precise adjustments in steering the vessel, which is essential in the face of the high performance of Azipod propulsion systems.
Statement by the Jury
The Azimuth lever shows a well-conceived, user-friendly design, which considerably facilitates the precise steering of large ships.
