Apple TV is a set-top box developed by Apple Inc. to stream media contents to a television or an external monitor. The new interpretation of the Apple TV modifies the design language of this digital content player into a highly elegant device with a small footprint. The Apple TV is 80 per cent smaller than the previous generation model and looks like a stylish and compact box that blends well into any interior. The redesign also led to very low power consumption and thus silent operation, as the device does not need a cooling fan. With its intuitive to use functionality, this high-quality and elegant looking box offers a simple way to access online HD films and TV shows and watch them on a high-definition television. The straightforward and self-explanatory way in which users can stream films wirelessly from the Internet and directly onto a television is innovative. Powered by an A4 processor chip that ensures error and glitch-free transmission, Apple TV can stream films, music, photos and even videos from a PC or Mac computer. The device features built-in HDMI, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and an internal power supply for easy set-up.
Statement by the Jury
Apple TV was entirely redesigned. Coming in elegant black, it perfectly blends in when placed next to a widescreen television or on a shelf to save space. The unit is very small, silent and efficient – both for audio or video streaming. Apple TV streams films, TV shows, photos and videos directly from the Internet or a computer for wireless watching on a television. The device simply needs to be plugged into a domestic power outlet and connected via HDMI cable to a television.
