The largely unexplored inhabitants of the deep sea have developed fascinating forms in the course of evolution. Translucent creatures from this underwater world were the inspiration for the Ameluna luminaire. Originating from research in the field of biomimetics, the luminaire does without a central light source and thus illuminates the room with mystical atmospheric lighting. This luminaire captivates with its unusually shaped body. The body of the luminaire is an 750 mm circle characterised by a dynamic curve that changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed. The interplay of its circular form and asymmetrical volume generates emotional inquisitiveness. Suspended by three extremely thin wires, this transparent acrylic luminaire almost seems to float in mid-air. A transparent aluminium strip at the bottom acts as a carrier containing 288 LEDs. The light illuminates downwards with a power of 41 watts, while simultaneously being dispersed through the transparent body. In the highend version, the dimmable pendant luminaire is available with an extra six-watts RGBW spot to produce a customised coloured lighting mood. Moreover, Ameluna can be controlled conveniently using a specially developed app. It thus allows it to interact with the environment by incorporating the lighting ambiance of the new Mercedes E-Class and replicating it in every room.
