¡Viva el Diseño! Public tour of the Red Dot Design Museum Essen
A public tour of the Red Dot Design Museum Essen informs visitors about the award-winning objects in the exhibition „¡Viva el Diseño! Red Dot winners from Spain“ and further 2,000 pieces from around the world on Sunday, 10 January 2016 from 3–4.30 p.m.
The one hour and a half tour of the former boiler house of the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex allows for interesting insights into the world of well-shaped and sophisticated designs. The visitors learn about latest trends in the various fields of international product design, about cultural and country-specific characteristics and how design has changed over the years.
A highlight of the guided tour is the special exhibition “¡Viva el Diseño! Red Dot winners from Spain”. Showcasing a wide selection of designs, it documents the contemporary understanding of design in Spain and highlights the international appeal of this year’s visiting nation at the Essener Lichtwochen, a festival of illumination in the German city of Essen. Visitors will encounter flexible pieces of furniture, inspired by Spanish lifestyle, beautifully formed lighting, and designs for public spaces, which contribute to modern townscapes. In addition, creative projects provide information on how people can skillfully communicate visually and how visionary design concepts give a glimpse into the future.
