Successful exhibition opening: Red Dot winners demonstrate “La valeur du design” in France
On Wednesday, 14 September 2016, a new Red Dot exhibition opened in France. During a reception at the Cité du Design in St. Etienne, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) was on show for the first time. Until 8 January 2017, Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world inform visitors about the merits and value of good design. They demonstrate that the term “design” goes way beyond the surface.
Gaël Perdriau, Mayor of Saint Etienne and President of the Cité du Design, and Ludovic Noël, Managing Director of the Cité du Design, welcomed the more than 200 guests to the exhibition opening. Vito Oražem, Curator of the collection and Managing Director of the Red Dot Design Museum, went to France, especially to deliver a short welcoming speech. During the vernissage, the attendants were able to discover the exhibition which offers numerous starting points for exchange about current topics in design.
“La valeur du design” pays special attention to human-centred innovations which are particularly well-made in terms of their use. Among the around 120 exhibits, which visitors can experience at close range, are ergonomic furniture, consumer electronics for the mobile lifestyle and products which convince with their smart materials, to name but a few.
