Red Dot on Tour: prize-winning products travel the world

Until 9 February 2018, designers and manufacturers from all over the world have time to register their best products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design. If the submissions are awarded a Red Dot, the laureates profit from the use of the extensive Winner Package. It includes numerous measures, all of which communicate the success of the company in an internationally visible way. Apart from the use of the Winner Label, it comprises amongst others the presentation of the product in exhibitions all around the globe.

“Design on Stage” – exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen
On 9 July 2018, the day of the Red Dot Gala, the awarded products enter the special exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. For six weeks, they turn the former boil house of Zeche Zollverein into a hot-spot for industrial design at the highest level. Afterwards, they become part of the permanent exhibition for at least one year. With about 2,000 exhibits, the museum presents the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide. Innovative and very shapely designed everyday items give the 150,000 visitors per year an understanding of cultural characteristics, inform them about current trends and demonstrate how design has changed over the years. In order to make this understandable in every sense, the museum invites guests to test and touch the exhibits.

International exhibitions
From Singapore and Dubai to Seoul, Hongkong, Beijing, Sydney and Xiamen to Zurich and Prague – awarded products are not only showcased in the home country of the Red Dot Award: Product Design, but regularly stop at design metropolises all around the globe. This way, laureates can establish contacts in the world’s most exciting economic zones and make consumers from different countries aware of the good design of their products. Depending on the focus of the exhibition, Red Dot selects which objects match best. Moreover, laureates have the chance to show their innovations in the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore which is located at the Marina Bay in the south of the country. The museum with the glass facade yearly attracts around 100,000 guests per year.

Submission still possible until 9 February
Until 9 February 2018, designers and manufacturers are invited to register their products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design. This year, they can choose from 48 different categories: from drones to fashion and accessories to furniture and robotics.
