Red Dot jury session: The expert panel is ready
The registration period for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 has ended. Now, the jury session is just around the corner: Numerous works are waiting to be evaluated by the Red Dot jury. In a three-day process, the members of the panel analyse all entries with their expert view and decide which works will be honoured with the Red Dot this year. Part of the jury are among others the sound professional Rainer Hirt, packaging and branding expert Renne Angelvuo and jury newcomer Jiaying Han.
Rainer Hirt from audiobranding
Rainer Hirt was born in Überlingen, Germany, in 1979. He studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Constance, Germany. He founded the corporate sound information portal www.audio-branding.de in 2003, a resource well known to experts in the field. After his studies, he also co-founded audity, an agency specialised in audio branding and audio interaction. Hirt is furthermore supervisor of various research projects with several universities as well as co-founder of the , the first independent institute for acoustic brand communication.
Renne Angelvuo – founder of Win Win Branding
Renne Angelvuo studied advertising, marketing and design at the Institute of Marketing in Helsinki, Finland. Afterwards, he studied art at the Free Art School Helsinki. Since 1980, he has been working as an art director in the fields of advertising and design. In 1994, he launched the first of his own companies, called Priority Advertising & Design. In 2004, he opened his second business, Win Win Branding. He has years of expertise in packaging design, industrial design and branding. His clients include established Finnish and international brands like Nokia, MySQL, Nestlé, Metsa Tissue, UPM Kymmene, StoraEnso, Valio and Saarioinen. The most important global brand and packaging design concept he created was for Metsa Tissue’s Saga Cooking and Baking, distributed in 54 countries. Since 2015, he is furthermore President of the European Packaging Design Association.
New jury member: Jiaying Han from China
Jiaying Han was born in Tianjin, China, in 1961. He is the founder of Han Jiaying Design & Associates and a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). Over the course of his career, he has won some of Asia’s most important design awards and was named one of China’s most influential designers by Forbes in 2015. Jiaying Han is also a guest professor at the City Design School of China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and planned the first China Design Exhibition in 2012. As the first solo exhibition of Chinese graphic art, “Reflection Han Jiaying Design” has been held respectively in Shenzhen (2012), Beijing (2013) and Shanghai (2014).
