Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 – announcement of the first jurors
The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 is in full swing. Until 10 June, participants can still enter their communication and design solutions and face the judgement of the Red Dot jury. The first jurors of this year’s award are already confirmed.
Bettina Schulz has become an inherent part of the Red Dot jury. With her expertise, the editor-in-chief of the international journal novum World of Graphic Design () will once again make a important contribution to the selection process. She already served on a number of design juries and therefore has a wealth of experience to draw from. Bettina Schulz also works as a freelance writer and editor for national and international magazines and is co-founder of the Creative Paper Conference (www.creative-paper.de) in Munich.
For the second time part of the expert panel this year is Uwe Melichar. He studied communication design at the Muthesius University in Kiel. In 1995, he started to work at the brand agency Factor (www.factordesign.com). Since 1999, he has been a managing partner and leads the packaging division. He has already realised projects for international companies like adidas, Bosch, C&A, Gardena, Omron and Phonak. Furthermore, Melichar is a lecturer at various universities and a member of the Type Directors Club New York. He also serves as a representative of the European Packaging Design Association in Germany.
Newly on board is Mårten Claesson from Sweden. He already demonstrated his abilities as a juror in the field of product design. Now, he will support the jury of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design with his know-how. He studied construction engineering at the Vasa Technical College in Stockholm as well as architecture and product pesign at the Parsons School of Design in New York. In 1994, he graduated with an MFA degree from Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. He is furthermore co-founder of the Swedish design partnership Claesson Koivisto Rune, which is multidisciplinary in the classic Scandinavian way and pursues the practice of both architecture and design. Mårten Claesson also works as a writer and lecturer.
