Last chance to take part in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016
Designers and agencies only have until 10 June to submit their projects for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016. After that date, registrations for this year’s award year close. Communication designers and experts in marketing have the opportunity to test their mettle in 21 categories and see how they measure up in the eyes of the Red Dot jury. The search is on for good communication campaigns and creative projects from across the international design industry.
New categories: retail design and e-commerce
This is the first year that two new areas – retail design and e-commerce – have received their own categories. More than ever, powerful retail design is the key to reaching consumers. From flagship stores, showrooms, department stores, pop up stores, to café and bar interiors, retail design can be found wherever consumers and products come into direct contact. The commercial field of e-commerce is also developing and becoming increasingly complex. The business model of shopping without leaving the home, while travelling, by using a laptop, tablet or smartphone, forces suppliers to differentiate themselves from the competition. They have to offer flexible configurations, easy to use menus and payment methods that are both simple and secure.
The jury – the nucleus of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design
Every year, Red Dot invites experts from around the world to assess the competition entries and to award the best projects. In lengthy sessions, the jury evaluates every project on an individual basis. There is no pre-selection. All participants are judged on the same terms, as the jurors appraise all entries live on-site. Members commit to the Code of Honour, which states that they are not allowed to take part in the judging of entries with which they have been involved in any way, shape or form. In order to guarantee an impartial selection process, no juror is allowed to submit his or her own project or one on which they collaborated.
Red Dot Gala and exhibition of winners in Berlin
On 4 November 2016, the Red Dot: Best of the Best winners receive their trophies in the course of the Red Dot Gala at the Konzerthaus Berlin. Afterwards, the international design scene celebrates at the Designers’ Night held at Berlin’s E-Werk where all the award-winning projects will be displayed in the “Design on Stage” winners’ exhibition.
