Last chance to visit “Creative Exchange”: communication design exhibition only until 2 June
The latest trends, strategies and projects of the international communication design scene are currently in the spotlight at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. Only until 2 June 2019, “Creative Exchange: World’s Best Communication Design and Highlights from NRW” presents a selection of Red Dot award-winning works on the grounds of Zollverein World Heritage Site in Essen, Germany. It includes all projects which were awarded with the Red Dot: Best of the Best and the Red Dot: Grand Prix in the Red Dot Award 2018. Moreover, the exhibition draws attention to the creative industry in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) by showcasing works from designers and companies from NRW which were granted a Red Dot in the past four years.
Experiencing creativity at close range
The scope of the more than 200 exhibits ranges from illustrations and posters to packaging, advertising campaigns and online presence. Whether analogue or digital, the special exhibition makes creativity and good design become experiencable at close range. Thus, digital presentations can be tried out as well as books, annual reports and magazines, which convey the outstanding and prize-winning quality of the designs at the fingertips as touching many of the objects is allowed.
Well-shaped
Among others, several issues of the magazine of Ballett am Rhein are exhibited, such as “b – Nº8”. The publication which was designed by Markwald Neusitzer Identity received the Red Dot in 2018. Furthermore, the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2018, Banda Agnevy from Kiev, is present with its advertising poster “Yes, God, Yes”. It is based on the feeling one gets when purchasing an expensive garment for a favourable price. In digital top form comes the PUMA Annual Report 2017. Under the leitmotiv of “Forever Faster”, it was designed by Publicis Pixelpark as a clip of 9.58 second, accompanied by the world record run of Usain Bolt.
Astonishingly different
Packaging design, which enthused the Red Dot Jury can also be seen in “Creative Exchange”. Besides the eponymous packaging of the beauty brand “THE BOOK”, which puts a spotlight on inner beauty, a beverage can by VELTINS Pilsener is exhibited. With its embossed surface, it offers a new experience of the product. Likewise, up-and-coming designer Sarah Jabs delighted the jury of the Red Dot Award as her packaging “WIII – Williams Christbirne” gave the traditional liquor a modern and distinctive design.
Winners of the Red Dot Award 2019 will be exhibited
Selected winning designs, which will be awarded by the jury in the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2019, will be introduced to a broad audience, too. This is one of the Winners’ Benefits, which are exclusively available to the winners of the international competition for brands and communication design. Agencies, designers, companies and brands around the world still have until 28 June 2019 to submit their brands and projects.
