China Good Design 2016 – last opportunity to take part
China Good Design is taking place for the second time and now is the start of the crucial phase of the award. Participants have until 12 August to submit their latest products. The contest, organised by Red Dot in cooperation with the Xiamen Media Group, is open to all designers and companies who want to achieve success for their high-quality products in China. The aim is to make high-quality products manufactured by international companies visible to the Chinese market and recognise their quality.
12 design experts – no industry employees
The award’s jury has now been finalised. It consists of independent designers, professors and trade journalists - none of whom work in industry. This year, a total of 12 members will award prizes to the best and most innovative products submitted. One of the jurors is Alexander Tatic, product designer from Milan. “I am hoping for the same high standard of quality as in 2015. Judging by the great public interest in China Good Design in its first year, I believe that we can expect to see a greater number of submissions. And that means even more and longer discussions amongst the jurors, something I am hugely looking forward to.”
Juror Professor Song Kee Hong adds, “We all know that participation in an established, international design competition increases the prestige and credibility of those designers who win awards.”
Award ceremony in the presence of Professor Dr. Peter Zec and all members of the jury
Just like last year, the judging of submissions for the China Good Design contest and the award presentation will be held during Xiamen International Design Week (29 October to 1 November 2016). Leading designers from around the world come here to meet companies that manufacture in China. For the fourth consecutive time, the programme will be complemented by the Red Dot Academy, which will take the opportunity to offer Chinese product designers an insight into the latest international developments in the sector.
The award ceremony will take place on the evening of 30 October 2016 in Xiamen. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of Red Dot and China Good Design, will join the jurors to present the awards. Shortly beforehand, participants will once again have the opportunity for an on-the-spot, direct exchange of views with all jurors at the popular “Meet the Jury” event. The evening concludes with a joint party for award-winners, jury members and major players in the industry at the Designers’ Night to celebrate the stars of this years’ contest.
