The SWOOSH Snowsailer

The first custom-designed vehicle of its kind, The SWOOSH Snowsailer sails like a sailboat, windsurfer or kite on snow and ice, raising its sails and letting the wind take hold. The direction is controlled with foot steering, and the speed with the mainsheet from within the cockpit. The windier, the faster it goes; the flatter the surface, the easier the ride. As such, The SWOOSH is most efficient on snow plains and frozen lakes. Stabilised by three retrofitted snowboards with proprietary runner bars and a base plate, this prevents The SWOOSH from side slipping on snow, and when on the ice, allows it to run on the runner bar edges. Using quality materials and cutting-edge technology to speed across snow and ice, it is destined to be the next big thing in winter sports. The SWOOSH has been tested across the plains, alps, rivers and lakes of the world – all successfully reaching speeds in excess of 64km/h. An aircraft grade aluminium frame can be disassembled into four pieces for easy transportation. The cockpit, manufactured from carbon fibre and foam, includes storage compartments, side mirrors, sailing hardware, ropes and mounts, and cradles for smart devices. The polycarbonate canopy has gull wing doors for easy entry and exit, and a fibreglass and carbon mast can be fitted with a 5.5mt or 6.5mt Dacron and Mylar sail.
