The Ring of the Nibelung – Chinese Opera Meets Musical Theatre

This poster design references Chinese opera and the German Nibelung legend to visualise the fusion of Western mythology and Eastern tradition in an intercultural theatre experiment, which, at the same time, avoids stereotypical design parameters. The poster shows a Chinese opera dancer who is entwined with a ring consisting of two contrasting halves. The gold section with its geometric style represents the Nibelung legend while the vibrant red brush-stroke calligraphy of the other half stands for Chinese opera. The composition is complemented by eye-catching bilingual typography.
