Small World - Square chair installation art

Zurück Download

Small World explores how projection technology can be applied to modern installation art without disrupting the tranquillity of a resting space. This art installation comprises a 5 by 5 grid of elevating chairs with image and sound projection that covers an area of 200 square meters. The projection art itself conveys changing expressions, generating responsive feedback images according to the seat pressure of the individual chairs. In this way, it intrigues and encourages users to interact with the chairs. Small World expresses differently in different places, to different crowds and at different times of the day. For example, images of a swimming fish and the sound of dripping water is used to promote ideas about ocean conservation; fluttering tulip petals and bird calls in the wind hints at urban culture; and different animation images signals the opening of an animation festival.
