“Nobody’s Darling” is a modern Southern Gothic film about a young woman who, in order to make her way to California after her father’s suicide, turns to prostitution. Along the way, she meets an elderly widower and, together, they find common ground. This drama seeks to discover commonalities within generational gaps and contemplate the social impact of film and culture in rural communities and small towns, all while examining an intimate conversation between two lonely characters asking searching questions. In the film, the story develops in a quiet narrative pace, effectively underlined by music.
