Layers – Exploring the Aesthetics of Onion

“Layers – Exploring the Aesthetics of Onion” consists of four books and materials which invite readers to try various creative experiments. It places the onion, a common plant in agricultural Taiwan, centre stage. Aimed at children in particular, the books present four possible uses of the vegetable: it is used as a material for making collages or hand sheets, as a dye and as an ingredient for cooking. The design of the books’ covers is inspired by the cross-section of an onion. Individual layers of paper in different colour graduations lend the vegetable a sculptural appeal.
