Typeface
Hertha
The football club Hertha BSC is inseparably linked to its hometown of Berlin, Germany, and encapsulates the essence of this city as a brand. Having used highly generic fonts in the past, the idea was to now combine the brand identity with communication and design aided by an in-house typeface. Thus, characteristics of the city and its club Hertha BSC served as the foundation and inspiration for the design of the new typeface Hertha. The inspiration came from the football club’s fan base in Berlin – as typography appears in many choreographies on flags and scarves in the stadium, as well as on graffiti, stickers and posters throughout the city.
