Ener-Farmer

Biomass energy is the connection between farming and energy, where organic material produced by farming is converted into usable energy. Using the process of exploration, experimentation, experiences and empowerment, the ENER-FARMER game creates an engaging way to teach elementary school students about this renewable green energy connection. The game starts with character cards and different functional cards that are used to achieve crop evolution. When a crop is harvested, the player gets a block for an ‘energy house’. These blocks represent energy sources such as biomass, wind, water, firepower, and solar energy. When the blocks are collected in the right order, they light up. Using characteristics of mercury resistance, the roof light is activated when the last block (‘solar energy’ block) is placed, simulating how solar energy generates power in real life. ENER-FARMER represents the learning method of future classrooms. Because of the highly visual and engaging learning style, this game is great for classrooms because it holds the attention of young students.
