Electronics Meets Crafts: - Gettou

Thanks to the light refracting characteristic of acrylic resin, light gently glows from the bottom of the frosted lamp shade, without exposing the bright light inside Kohchosai Kosuga’s random woven bamboo strips. The natural rhythm of shadow created by the bamboo weave contrasts against the moon-like glow from the bottom of the lampshade, producing a vision of ephemeral beauty. It brings back the traditional sensibility of moon gazing to modern living. The “Electronics Meets Crafts:- Gettou” is one prototype from the series of the collaborative work with GO ON, a creative unit of Kyoto craftspeople. The common theme, “Electronics Meets Craft:”, aims to resonate with the five human senses and memories by showcasing state-of-the-art craftsmanship and aesthetic awareness that Japanese tradition has nurtured for centuries. “Gettou” is the study of a new experience of illumination based on the idea that Electronics Meets Crafts:-.
