Red Dot Award: Design Concept

Design Concepts in Visual Communication sends message by saying less

Design Concepts in Visual Communication sends message by saying less

Whether it is to market or educate, promote or reinforce, there are a variety of ways to get your message across, through a book, a magazine layout, your corporate identity, an advertisement, a website, even typography, or an animation short. What are you trying to say, are you saying it effectively? Visual Communication is a category in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept. Designers are encouraged to present concepts, non-commissioned or unexecuted client visual communication projects.

Making history a tactile experience.

XIU - Book of Weaving

With a mini loom embedded as part of the book, XIU hopes that being able to experience simple weaving techniques will pique the reader’s curiosity in learning more about the history and culture of weaving.

Two into one

International Festival Network of Theatre for Young Audiences

The visual design extracts, abstracts, and combines the red spheres of the Chinese opera headdress and Elizabethan ruff collar pleats to symbolises the festival’s themes of cooperation, resource sharing, and cultural integration.

Dramatic storytelling doesn’t need to be in colour

Epic Albanian Folk Songs

The theme of these folk songs are often dark and dreary, and speak of supernatural elements. The minimalist style of these illustrations capture and emphasise the content and dramatic qualities.
